Renovation of the kitchen was in three stages, the final version has refaced cupboards, new cork floor, new extra large sink, new large peninsula with stools, and a new granite countertop. Below will give you an idea of the kitchen transformation.

The basement two piece Bathroom was upgraded to incorporate a curved corner shower, custom vanity and toilet without a "throne". Hall wall and plumbing were relocated to allow a 3rd piece, making this more functional and bright.

Upstairs bathroom had plastic walls, floor and vanity. Gutted to studs, keeping existing fixture locations and footprint.

The eastern exposure with deep porch overhang, combined with the dark Dusty Rose painted walls and navy carpet made the Interior gloomy.

New light fixtures, fresh custom "greige" paint brightened the Living/Dining without removing the existing carpet.

KIH Donor Board and "Designer Gals"

Kingston Interval House new construction, long term housing project.

Each volunteer designer was given a very modest budget and two apartments to decorate with standardized furniture and fixtures we all agreed upon. Green Space Design choose to do an environmentally friendly theme with an all natural colour scheme and fabrics; cotton curtains, bedding and towels, hand knotted unique wool carpets and silk cushions with a sheepskin throw and black accents to co-ordinate with the kitchen as open concept layout. These two bedroom units were to accommodate a mother and maximum three children under the age of 16, for up to a year duration.

The existing basement shower leaked and needed to be gutted. At that time it was decided to incorporate in-floor hot water radiant heating. The existing bathroom fixtures were reused. NOTE this project is still under construction, therefore the window treatments and paint are not completed in photos.

Travertine (tumbled marble) replaced the ceramic tile for the bathtub, steam shower, change and sauna rooms. The 12" x 24" Rustico marble floor throughout was chosen to complement the stone walls of change room, hall and the wine cellar. Natural, ivory and green marble created patterns, especially in the steam shower room with vaulted ceiling (so you don't get hot water dripping on you) see detail.
